Valentine's Weekend 2011

Warren decided to make last weekend a musical celebration of Valentine's love.
The 5th Avenue was willing and able to help.
On Saturday, we met up with Mom and went to The Act Theater to see
"The Vanities", which has been turned into a musical. It was terrific!
Warren and I checked into our room at The Arctic Club Hotel.
It was originally a club for men who had been to Alaska.
Oh my gosh - it is such an historical place!
It's been updated to preserve its history
and include all the creature comforts.
Look carefully to see the walrus decorations
around the second floor (between the windows).
We were given room 217, as is indicated by the walrus by the door.
The walrus is a reoccurring theme throughout the hotel.
The lampshade is a map of the Yukon Territories and
the coffee table has a picture of Peary's trip to the North Pole.
Doesn't Warren look right at home?
The pictures over the bed were taken by Edward R. Curtis,
who became quite famous for his portraits of
Native Americans in the late 1880's - early 1900's.
The bed was a very comfy!
Our room's mascot was one of the men who was
a member of the Arctic Club in 1917.
The lobby of the hotel is filled with portraits of the members,
all taken by Edward R. Curtis.
The bathroom was spacious and decorated to match
the period theme, including the door!
Doesn't that door evoke a feeling of going back in time?
 The ceiling molding was beautiful.
I just love decorated ceilings!
On Sunday, we checked out - after a delicious breakfast.
Later, we returned to the 5th Avenue to attend
their "Valentine Love Songs" presentation.
It featured a full orchestra and several singers.
The songs they picked to share were just perfect!
We left for awhile and then returned for the
1st Annual Season Ticket holder preview of 2011-2012.
The place was packed!
This concert featured a pianist and several singers
showcasing songs from next season's shows.
It was really exciting to hear what we have to look forward to!
On Monday, the actual day of Valentine, we met in an
Edmonds bistro for a prix fix dinner experience.
Yummy delicious!
All-in-all, it was a lovely way to celebrate Valentine's Day.
(Note the hearts on the salad plate.)
Just in case you've always wondered what a Beef Cupcake looks like...
A sweet treat to end our fabulous dining experience.
We hope you had a nice Valentine's Day, too.
