Well, since last I updated, quite a few things have happened. On April 11, we gave flowers to the church in honor of Alex. It has been 25 years since we lost him. Later that day, we played our last concert of the season in Anacortes. It was a good concert season and we enjoyed playing the music. Later that night, we went out to dinner and the lovely waitress, not really knowing how to respond when we told her what our 'event' was, brought us a lovely surprise:
On the 13th, Katharine, Brady and McColley came to visit! Whew! They are busy boys! We had our weekly videochat with Arianna, who was in Japan.
Brian had recently gone to Afghanistan, so we had family all across the globe. Then, KC and the boys took Ari and Tim's car to Pasco to celebrate Brian's and his brother Sean's birthday, so we didn't get to see them very much on this trip.
When they got back on Saturday, we celebrated Great Grandma Hopkins' birthday with a dinner at Daniel's Broiler. It was delicious. The boys got bored after awhile, so Katharine took them back to the house while the growed-ups finished their massive meals. On Sunday the 18th, KC and the boys were set to go home, taking Grandpa with them. But, before they left, we met up with Graunt Britt, Gruncle Mark and 'Big Boy' David for brunch. (Our family events usually involve eating!) It was really nice to see everybody at 13 Coins on International Blvd.
Grandpa spent the week in Dover with the family and had a great time. Katharine's blog has lots of pictures and explanations of their time together.
Warren came home in time to find that I'd been surplussed from my beloved job as Dean of Students. Sigh. I am still looking for an administrative job, but so far, nothing...
Wouldn't YOU hire this person??
One of my friends said "perhaps you should skip the entire letter and just send a photo of yourself standing in an unemployment line holding up a sign saying "a brilliant mind is a terrible thing to waste - your next principal is right here." Hmmm. Today, I am going to meet my new supervisor to talk about my return to speech/language pathology next fall...
On May 1st, we went to Austria! Not really. David was in his last musical of high school - "The Sound of Music". He was quite versatile in it - playing a Baron, a priest and a Nazi. It was an excellent show!
It's finally hammock weather! Yea! So, out it came and out I went last weekend. Nothing more relaxing than that.
Lastly, Arianna and Tim have returned from their adventures in Japan. We drove to the airport to get them last Wednesday and took NO pictures of them or their 300 pounds (well, it seemed like)of baggage. They had a good flight and are happy to be back in the land of soft sofas, beds and carpeting!
So, I'm caught up for the time being. 'Till next time!
