Social Creatures? Yep, we are!

Warren's becoming quite the chef! His Stuffed Mushrooms and Roasted Asparagus with Feta wowed our friends Lori & Fred on Friday night. I forgot to take a picture of his gorgeous Cherries Jubilee : - (   It flamed up beautifully and tasted marvelous. We hadn't made a flaming dessert since our early days on Gribble in Richland. We enjoyed our food and conversation.

On Saturday, we traveled down to Olympia to meet our friends Jan & Randy at the Spar (McMenamin's). We wanted lunch, but it was 11:30 and they ONLY serve breakfast until 12:00. At 12:00, after consoling ourselves with bloody drinks, it was time to order. When I asked what the pizza special of the day was, the waitress became flustered and we didn't see her for a few more minutes. When she finally returned, she had to go back into the kitchen because she'd forgotten to ask! We ended up with mucho deliciouso food, though, so it was worth the wait. It was lots of fun talking to J&R. In the long run, Warren's rumpus could not take the hard bench anymore, so we said our goodbyes...but, not before picking up our brews from Randy. He had bottled the beer that he & Warren + a bunch o'people had made in Portland about a month ago.

On the way home, we stopped in Tacoma to see the Glass Museum, as we've never been there before. It was interesting and I'm glad we've seen it. I personally find watching glass-blowing to be about as interesting as watching someone make pancakes, but Warren thought it was neat. The most interesting thing to me was the Singeltary exhibit of NW Indian designs, including masks, done in glass. I thought they were quite lovely, but Warren thought they were simply OK.
Then, yesterday, our friends Wendy & Rob came to dinner. Warren again whipped up his mushrooms, asparagus, and cherries. I added a couple of tasty items: focaccia with olive oil and Stuffed Cod (I admit that the cod was stuffed and packaged by the Omaha Steak Co., but I DID put it in the oven and take it out on time - so there : - )

All in all, a delightful weekend of good friends, good food, and good glass. What more can a person ask for?
